Hi I’m Emily Shannon of Em Shannon Art. I have always appreciated life through lenses of colour, texture, composition & balance. Emotions and experiences have always been something that is to be expressed - visually, poetically, or metaphorically.
For over 20 years I have dabbled in many different art techniques with large amounts of my artistic energy spent in acrylic painting, charcoal & water colours. I have settled more recently on exploring the scope of digital art to express subjects. This shift was originally made due to the constraints on my art practice that came with inviting young children into the world.
In recent times I have flourished in pushing the boundaries of digital art creation and love to experiment with new techniques, variables and tools available in Adobe Photoshop with my Wacom Intuos tablet. 2018 was a year of celebration as I was awarded in taking my art publicly - with many thanks to Boroondara Arts! And 2019 began with much excitement with my debut solo exhibition in a public gallery, and expansion of my commissioned art business. This year I will be focusing on bringing the digital and traditional art skills I've acquired together into pattern design.
I am called ‘Mum’ by 3 kids (aged 7, 5 & 2), called ‘Wifeypants’ by a Dave & called to follow Jesus. I have a past in physiotherapy & a qualification in teaching from kindergaten to grade 12. In my spare time I love to be inspired by visiting galleries and watching spoken word poetry. It is my hope that as you peruse my art collection that it changes you somehow for the better!
I'm excited to be exploring opportunities to 'art' in and about my Melbourne playground - if you have any leads or collaborations please do get in touch!
