Spaces to play, spaces to get away

Time to get very familiar with these 4 walls. Ouch. What an adjustment. We live in a humble 3 bedroom house house with 3 very energetic kids. And one of those bedrooms is a dedicated home office space. Time to get creative!

I'm a firm believer in the balance of together and apart time in a healthy relationship. To and fro. And all the more with those you live with 24/7! I find that for the older 2 if they're doing an independent activity they more fully engage in it when they're separate from each other. Our home is more peaceful if there are spaces setup and ready absorb whatever activity is on the go. Today I did a quick reshuffle of things to allow for each of our kids to have a space in different rooms.

First up we moved around the lounge so that there's space for a temporary picnic blanket when we want a firm flat mat for a puzzle, games, or for a snack. It promptly got used for a game of charades and corn chips! Happy memories.

Then we moved a small lounge chair which we found on the side of the road last month (score!) and nicked a coffee table from the lounge room for Miss 3 in her bedroom as another possible escape.

We also incorporated a hopscotch into our hallway as a neat use of space to ensure a bit more physical exertion.

Spaces to play, spaces to get away. Have you thought about changing things up? It really lifted our mood on a low day as we got physical and moved furniture, had and acted on ideas together, and then christened the new found spaces.
