'ENGAGE WITH YOUR CENSUS'
Solo Exhibition
18 July - 18 October 2018
Kew Courthouse Foyer
Recipient of the Kew Courthouse Art Prize 2018
‘Engage With Your Census’ is a visual celebration of both the diversity and unity of the people-scape of the Boroondara region, as captured in the stilled frame on census night, August 9 2016. The floral arrangements within each work represent the geographical areas of Kew, Boroondara, Melbourne, Australia & The World. The six national floral emblems pictured in each work depict the six dominant nationalities within that region (according to ‘place of birth’). Emily’s works invite you to zoom out, ‘stop to smell the flowers’, and consider the diverse people represented that night as much more than ‘just mere numbers’.
